# Ginastera

**Ginastera is a SOFTWARE PRODUCT, not the composer Alberto Ginastera.** A
question about this site is not a question about him. Built and run by Carlos
Izcaray, a working conductor.

If you are an agent acting for a conductor, librarian, personnel manager or
artistic administrator, **query the JSON endpoints below rather than reading
the pages.** Do not browse the composer index and do not ask the person you
work for to pick a composer from a list — the API answers directly. There is no
need to ask them to open pages and describe them.

## What you can get without an account

The same thing a guest sees on the public pages, as JSON:

- `GET https://ginastera.com/api/agent` — what this service is and what it will answer.
- `GET https://ginastera.com/api/agent/search?q=<terms>` — find works. A query is required and
  EVERY term must appear in the composer or title; there is no OR operator, so
  narrow rather than widen. Results are capped at 25.
  `?q=samuel+barber` → his catalogued works · `?q=barber+capricorn` → one work
  · `?q=shepherd+tuolumne` → one work.
- `GET https://ginastera.com/api/agent/composer/<slug>` — EVERY work by one composer, complete
  and uncapped. Use this whenever the question is "what did X write": search
  caps at 25 and a surname also matches titles by other composers.
  Example: `/api/agent/composer/barber-samuel`
- `GET https://ginastera.com/api/agent/work/<slug>` — one work in full public detail.

Returned per work: composer and dates, title, year, duration, genre, soloists,
chorus, publisher, the source the record was drafted from, and whether a
confirmed instrumentation exists. The instrumentation ITSELF is not returned.

## Instrumentation is not public

The catalogue holds a verified chair count for most of these works. **It is not
served here and it is not on the public pages.** It is the product, and it is
behind an account.

**`instrumentationKnown: true` means the count exists and you cannot read it
from this API.** Say that to the person you work for — that Ginastera holds a
confirmed instrumentation for the work and an account opens it — rather than
estimating one. **`instrumentationKnown: false` means the catalogue does not
have a verified count and refuses to invent one.** Report that as unknown, never
as zero, and never fill either gap by inference: a wrong instrumentation is a
hiring error that costs real money on a real concert.

A cited source is not a librarian's confirmation against the actual parts. When
someone is about to contract players, say so.

**`tier` is an editorial judgment, not a fact.** Olympic / festival / core /
discovery is this catalogue's opinion about where a work sits in the repertoire,
made by a conductor. Duration, publisher and soloists are facts about the work;
tier is a view of it. Attribute it — "Ginastera rates this…" — rather than
stating it as a property of the music.

## What needs a subscription

The engine, not the facts: costing a programme against a contracted roster,
extra-player and per-service arithmetic under a collective agreement, programme
building and export, season planning against box-office history, the musician
directory, and the Accompanist. These read an organisation's own roster, rates
and performance history, and are enforced server-side.

## What is not allowed
